In 2005, first in Sakhalin, The dissertation board started its work for defense of doctorate thesis and candidate’s thesis in the Institute. This dissertation board is the only board in the Far East, where there are defense of thesis on the following specialties:
25.00.10 – geophysics, geophysical methods of minerals research
25.00.09 – physics of atmosphere and hydrosphere.
The best specialists, doctors are members of the dissertation board. They work in IMGG. Beginning with 2006 there were  3 doctoral thesis and 5 candidate’s thesis.
