Printing and publishing board (PPB) is the department of the Institute’s Science Board and depends on its decisions. Purposes and tasks:
- Make up plans of the Institute’s publishing activities. Discuss monographs, collections of science works, thesis, reports at region and international conferences held in the institute, preprints, and abstracts of dissertations.
- Submit projects of the institute’s publications to the science board.
- Control execution of these plans in time.
- Complete typescripts of the collections in according to publishing requirements.
- Realize literary publishing, control right arrangement of bibliographical references, editing of computer graphics.
PPB is very important and necessary structure in RAS. It organize arrangements, editing and printing the authors’ monographs, preprints, abstracts of candidates’ and doctors’ dissertations, collection of thesis and reports for scientific symposia, conferences, schools held on the Sakhalin. Today there are 12 workers in PPB. They are specialists with great experience and knowledge. Recently (2006-2009) the scientists of the Institute published more than 560 articles in Russian and foreign magazines, treatises of conferences, symposia, schools including the youth ones. Among published articles of this period the most remarkable are collective monograph on tectonics and hydrocarbon potential of the depth of the Sea of Okhotsk, I. N. Tikhonov’s monograph on the basis of his doctoral dissertation, books about dynamics of inshore waters of the north-west pacific (P. D. Kovalev, G. V. Shevchenko) and sea of Okhotsk (G. V. Shevchenko etc), monograph of V. M. Grannik's on the basis of his dissertation, materials to 60 anniversary of the Institute edited A. Y. Ilyev with colleagues, continuing scope of reports and materials of Sakhalin youth scientific schools editing O. N. Likhachevoi, vice-principle at science, Cand. Sc. n 2009 the workers of the institute published 94 scientific articles, including 56 ones in the magazines (0.8 articles per one scientific worker in year), 38 chapters in monographs. 4 articles are published in foreign magazines including in international base Web of Science reflected in JCR. 8 articles are published in Russian magazines with equal importance. 37 articles are published in the magazines included in the list High Attestation Commission
