Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. He graduated from the Faculty of Radio Engineering of Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics in 1997. In 1998, he entered the full-time postgraduate program at the Institute of Marine Geology and Geophysics, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2002, he defended his Candidate of Sciences dissertation at the dissertation council of the Pacific Oceanological Institute FEB RAS in Vladivostok, and in 2015 he defended his Doctor of Sciences dissertation at the dissertation council of IMGG FEB RAS.
His research focuses on the development and application of instruments and software for field experiments in the coastal marine zone, and on the analysis of observational data on infragravity waves, wind waves, storm surges, harbor oscillations (tyagun), and the detection of tsunami waves against the background of natural long-wave noise. He has authored more than 140 scientific publications and co-authored six monographs.
